Whether a sole practictioner, or in partnership there are always occasions, when new issues arise that would benefit from being able to seek advice from others in a private manner, away from the possibility of a client, or an associate having access to the discussion.
A recent example was an accountant seeking a pointer on the taxation of a transaction, which his client read and caused an erosion of faith.
In todays complex frameworks of increasing business regulation and more draconian penalty regimes than in halycon times, a quick word of reassurance from a fellow professional may ease the worry and stress incumbent on us all.
We were for calling the forum "Accountants Anonymous", to suggest the ambience and ethos of AA meetings, but in retrospect considered the name disrespectful to those with Alcohol problems.
You get your chance to talk about GAAP or the credit crunch, or do you need clarification on tax matters? Perhaps you want to share or learn new marketing methods, or talk about the legal framework, or even natter about the rise of SaaS and the various accounting packages on the market at present.
